BBL's...it's deeper than you think.

Hey Light chic! Anyone who doesn't know what a BBL is has been hiding under a rock, even if you don't know the term, you've definitely seen what this looks like on a woman these days. From the Kardashians to female rappers, celebrities and actresses, we see it everywhere. We clearly see the physical outside traits of a BBL, but lets dig deeper to see what is making even the average girl next door sign up to go thru this grueling & dangerous procedure to get the look of wide hips, small waist and an overly large butt.

So, the term BBL stands for Brazilian butt lift. In 1960, a surgeon named Ivo Pitanguy founded the world’s first plastic surgery center in Brazil, where he pioneered what became known as the Brazilian butt lift and taught surgeons all over the world how to perform his techniques. The "assets" that most women of color already possessed, suddenly became popular and wanted by women who were not of color, basically getting the shape without the stigma of what it really means to be a black or latina woman. Pop culture and celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Nicki Minaj, Lil'Kim took this new look to the masses making women everywhere desire to have this exaggerated womanly shape. But is it just about outside appearance or is there something else going on here?

Let's just be real and expose the real reason for a woman getting a BBL. Is it really how she wants to look, or is it how she think she HAS to look to fit the stigma perpetrated by society, social media and Hollywood? When we look at it deeply it becomes a battle of the mind and heart. When we as women, buy into the lie that we have to look a certain way to be successful or be THAT girl, we have forsaken our true self and intentionally disregarded who God already says we are. Psalm 139:14 says I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. The time God took to create your own unique look, your eyes, your hair, your lips, hips & fingertips are already perfect. The BBL is an exaggerated look created by a man of a prototype that already existed. The enemy took that and turned it into a lustful longing and covetous idea and sold it to us. The enemy whispers that unless you look a certain way you won't get that baller or man your heart desires, you won't look pretty enough or be good enough unless you look like THAT. We as women have to have standards and walk in our own purpose before we can expect the real man of our dreams and heart to show up. 1 John 2:16 says For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. So many are buying into the lust (and yes even desiring a BBL is lustful), that they are risking their lives for it. Surgeons are candid that this is one of, if not THE most dangerous type of plastic surgery, has known complications and needs great aftercare for it to be "successful". I once saw a post on tik tok from a male in the Miami airport. He did a video showing a very long line of women in wheelchairs. Apparently these women were either leaving or coming into the airport after getting a BBL. Others found it funny and commented snarky comments, I just found it quite sad. To see all these women who opted for dangerous surgery to change their appearance made me see the extent of the enemy's trickery. Even sadder- was that the guy recording commented that BBL's are not even attractive to most men. Meaning most men are not intentionally looking for a woman who has gone out of her way and spent alot of money to alter her body. One thing most people don't know is before being approved for any type of drastic plastic or bariatric weightloss surgery- is that you must undergo a medical psych evaluation. Doctors try to make sure you are mentally capable to accept what you are signing up for. This further proves that how we perceive ourselves and our image starts in the mind. Are we filling our minds with the word of God, with knowing we are capable and beautiful, intelligent and more than butts and thighs? Or are we filling them with images programmed into us by the world and the enemy?

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus -Philippians 2:5-11. We have to guard our minds, our ear gates and vision on what we allow to enter and take up residence.

See thru the lies of the enemy. Look at the testimonials of those who regret they had these surgeries, even going so far as to reverse the procedure ( K. Michelle)or became sick or infected...and then also remember those who have died to due complications from this un-needed surgery. Yeah you may opt for it but in 10/20 years after you age, will you be ready to go back under the knife for "maintenance" surgery??

Listen--You are enough! You are beautiful. Just as you are.

Let's shine bright sis and tell our sisters about the love of God. He is the lover of our soul.

Stay shining.

Meditate on these verses regarding body positivity:

1 Corinthians 6:19-20-Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

Romans 12:1- Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship

Psalm 100:3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Psalm 139:14 - I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
