What to do when you are waiting for God to move.

Hey! Welcome to April yall, 2025 is moving right along and by now I know you have laid some petitions and request at God's feet . You are trusting He will come thru and you are holding on to whatever He has promised you.
So the question is what do you do while you're waiting for those answered prayers or that special request.
Continue reading for 4 biblical principles I invite you to practice while you wait.
1) Wait with expectancy and without fear.
The bible gives us so many instances and stories of waiting on God with hope and not fear. We see Abraham waiting on the promise of a son, Joseph waiting to be freed from Pharoah's dungeon, Daniel in the lion's den, and so on. So many times God proved He would not only deliver or answer in the right time, but that He is ever present while you wait-even if you don't feel Him. As you wait , don't let fear overtake your thoughts or make you move ahead of God's schedule because you feel He has forgotten you. IF you remind yourself to not harbor fear, then you'll keep in mind all the examples the bible has given us of God's track record to come thru.
2) Serve while you wait.
Serving others is an example Jesus Christ left us. Serving takes your mind and focus off of you, and helps you focus on God's kingdom work. Jesus washed His disciples feet as an example to them on how no servant is greater than their master- if HE could humble himself and serve so should we. Serving for you may look like service at your church, in a ministry, a homeless shelter, prison ministry etc. The Holy Spirits gives us each gifts to be used for God's glory and purpose, so while you wait- cultivate those gifts. Bear fruit and remember others who are in physical and spiritual need. Think outside of yourself and ask God how you might bring Him glory while you wait on His promises.
3) Go on a fast.
Sometimes we ask God to move on our behalf out of sheer necessity, our wants and our own plans for our life. If what you laid at the Father's feet is outside of His will, your answer will often be delayed or receive a loud "NO" from God. In your waiting- now would be the perfect time to seek God's will to know if what you asked for is what HE even wants for you!
One of the best spiritual ways to hear from God and learn His will and His ways is to fast.
Fasting from food is the correct biblical fast that scripture teaches us about, although fasting from worldly pleasures like tv, social media, the phones, etc. can also be beneficial to your spiritual life and block out the noise so you can clearly hear from God. Jesus Himself fasted, and we see Him empowered by it, He also said when you fast, not if you fast- when speaking with His followers, so we know fasting from food for a time is a something Jesus expects us to do. It's very possible during your fast God will reveal what He wants you to do or has for you, and it could very well be something entirely different than what you prayed for!
4)Prepare to receive the blessing
Ephesians 3:20-21 says "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen". Do you believe that we serve a God who gives us good and perfect gifts ? Blessings so great that it can be beyond our dreams or what we imagined for ourselves?? The bible tells us we do! As you are waiting on God, prepare to receive the blessing. If you've asked for financial blessings then began practicing to be a good steward over the money you already have. And this is a big one for me! To me that looks like cutting down my spending, consistently offering God a portion of my money in tithing and offerings, and realizing He is my source not money or my job.
If you've asked God for another or better job- evaluate the type of employee you are now at your current job. Are you hardworking with integrity or doing the bare minimum to fly below the radar? We prepare to receive the blessing by how we act now in the present. Maturity to receive what God has for us is a real flex and it's a work the Holy Spirit does within us.
If we say we can name it and claim it (which isn't really biblical by the way) but don't change our thinking, renew our minds and walk in God's way of the narrow road then we could be delaying our own blessings.
Of course God is faithful and give us grace upon grace, but we need to be active in our own spiritual walk. We as human parents, give our kids more responsibility and more things and privileges as they show their maturity and capacity to handle more. God often treats us the same when we come to Him.
This month evaluate what you have asked God for. Is it needed, beneficial, in His will ?
We have a direct line to Him thru His Jesus Christ thru prayer. Jesus intercedes for us and even the Holy Spirit prays for us because we don't even know what to ask.
We have a good Father and the only one who gives us good and perfect gifts from above.
So in your waiting season, put these gems into practice and watch the difference I believe it will make in your life.
I'm a believer because I have witnessed God move in my own life when I've laid my broken pieces at His feet. He'll give you beauty for ashes.
Until next time, keep shining
