Blog Series: The Promises of God To Live a Set Apart Life: Day 2- The Promise To Supply Our Needs

Writer: Kee IsadoreKee Isadore

Hey yall! Sorry I'm a day late but nevertheless, we're moving on to day 2 of the Series- The Promise to Supply Our Needs. Today's message is to encourage you to believe that no matter what you feel you may be lacking , God is the source and provider for every believer. We often think that it's our good jobs or reputations or sources of associates is the reason we have what we have. The rich or wealthy often put their trust in their money. These are all material things that can be taken away if the stock market dips in the wrong direction. But did you know that God promises to provide for us so we prosper, not just in wealth or money but He wishes our souls to prosper as well. Philippians 4:19 states "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." And He provides for us not just so we would have all that we physically need but also spiritually so we can bring glory to Him and the kingdom of God. 2 Corinthians 9:8 says "And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work."

IF we're honest we can look back on times when God has indeed provided for us in immeasurable ways physically with homes, cars, jobs, paying bills and living day to day.

We can also look back and see when He supplied and gave us more grace, mercy and joy in dark moments and situations. God providing for us is another benefit of salvation and us relying on Him. It's good to look back and remind ourselves of God's divine providence in our life. King David wrote in Psalm 37:25, "I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread." God's promises extend to our children's children's ! Think about that. Your family of generations will be blessed because you are blessed. A lot of us are still existing off the prayers and blessings of our mothers and grandmothers, grandfathers and great aunts , and all those of faith in our family that went on before us!

We reap even greater benefits of God's supply when we honor Him with what He has already given us. When we pay tithes and offerings, when we give to the poor, when we feed the hungry- God will indeed provide and supply everything we need, so we don't even miss or lack when we give!

The bible's promises to us was written for our benefit. The 23rd Psalms is a favorite psalm I like to read when I feel like I am lacking...notice I said when I "feel". Our feelings are sometimes deceptive and wrong feelings planted by the enemy. When I get out of my "feelings" and pray and meditate on God, the Holy Spirit re-directs my thoughts of worry or lack to praise and thanksgiving! We've got to continually strengthen and be reminded that we serve a God that promises to provide and take care of us. Constantly in the bible, He says He is with us, even until the end of this age.

Psalm 34:10 reads "The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing." A young cub relies on it's mother to provide food for it. It has not yet developed the hunting skills to survive on it's own. So while the lioness is out hunting and scavenging for food, the young cubs are hungry. But the 2nd part of that verse promises that if we seek God we won't lack any good thing.

We can't seek God's will and our will..one of them must be abandoned.

We're promised if we seek God and all His righteousness He will provide and we will lack nothing.

God has an endless supply of what we need. Trying to go around Him so you don't have to rely on Him is foolish and not wise.

Making Him Lord of our life removes the constant worry from ourselves and we're able to place all our cares and worries on Him.

Lastly, Jesus told His disciples this before His departure in Matthew 6:25, "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?

The believer's life is more than worrying about ourselves. God knows we need shelter, food, clothes, a job to provide for our families-- HE already knows all of this.

When we live righteous before Him, He takes care all of this, and to be honest, even when we were far from Him, not even thinking about God, in His divine ways- He still provided for us.

I hope you are encouraged to leave your worries at the foot of the cross.

Take all of your care to Jesus, your needs your wants, your dreams and aspirations.

Give them to Him, seek Him and watch Him make ways for you that you didn't even imagine.

When you feel like wallowing in what you see OR don't see, re-activate your faith and meditate on the promise that God already knows what you need.

Thursday's topic will be The Promise of Eternity!

( Yes, I know I'm a day behind) :)

See you then, stay shining!

Scriptures to mediate on:

Matthew 7:11: If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

Isaiah 58: 11- And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail

1 Peter 5:6-7- Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Ephesians 3:20-21 -Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
