Feminine Energy vs. Biblical Femininity

Writer: Kee IsadoreKee Isadore

Hey there!

If you're in any social sites or apart of any women's social groups, I'm sure you have heard these terms- feminine energy, divine feminine, goddess, goddess energy, etc. These terms have become interchangeable with womanhood in our culture and society, but what does it mean, and more importantly what does the bible say about it...and how does it affect us as Christians women, role models, wives and just women in general.

The term divine feminine is defined as the feminine aspect of the divine power that connects and binds the Earth together. In other words, you have goddess power in you that enables you to affect the earth, people places, situations etc. This belief originated with the occult, wicca, and now new age beliefs. Many women not only believe in this but actually think they operate in this "goddess" state daily. Some often attribute their good fortune or good luck or blessings to themselves as they feel they made it happen by manifesting their divine energy, thinking good thoughts or doing certain things. While I do think we can affect our surroundings and outcomes in some ways, the bible does not ascribe it to any feminine energy or goddess will-power. Let's see how the bible describes our femininity.

In Proverbs 31:10-31 it reads, "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies." We see here that a virtuous woman is highly prized by anyone she comes into contact with or affect. Rubies are a highly valued gem, being virtuous involves having high moral values and standards, it's not placed on looks or status. A woman should be counted virtuous when she goes into a room and change it for better by her conversation, her walk and presence. Letting Christ's light shine thru you to greatly affect your surroundings and your mindset. Being virtuous is highlighted even more when we let the spirit of God work thru us and direct us NOT depending on our own thoughts or selfish ambition.

We also see in Proverbs 14: 1 that "Every wise woman builds her house: but the foolish tares it down with her hands." Do you often wonder why it seems you may excel in a certain area, whether its worklife, or home life or in relationships or with finances. It's good for a while...then it starts to crumble. Could it be we are taring down what we thought we built? We can tare things down with our actions and we can certainly tare it down with our mouths! Every woman knows how to cut with her tongue, unfortunately it's because we can become emotional and vindictive if we're not careful. This is why this verse uses the term wise and foolish. Ascribing goddess or divine status to ourselves, when we have not even mastered our tongue is a gross mistake and shows we aren't divine at all.

Yes, we are made in the image of God and we have some of His characteristics, but we don't truly mimic Him until we let the Spirit have control in our lives, especially in the areas we KNOW we are weak in.

So let's not get caught up in the lie the world is pushing on us regarding divine femininity. Their lie is that we don't need men- we can do it all. We can set out on our own path and manifest the life we want-without considering God's will. And this one is my favorite lie--that all life flows from woman, God is a female energy, the giver of life etc! I cringe every time I see this lie. Because its really a half truth- a lie the devil sprinkles in with a little bit of truth to get you to believe it. Life does flow from the woman, as God created us to give birth. But we hold the egg, man plants the seed. There would be no life without the man. This is the divine order God created. We need each other-male and female.

Leave this blog knowing that you are indeed needed, created for and with purpose and you are especially special to the Father. Be strong in your femininity, your morals and high standards. It's also ok to let your guard down, feel those feelings, let your husband cover you with prayer and be vulnerable when needed.

Please take time to meditate on these scriptures to ensure you grasp true biblical femininity.

Burn bright!
