Greetings Lightbrights! Thanks for checking in to this week's blog, I hope you're strapped in and standing on business today...because this week's topic is a doozy. Ready? Here we go.
Everyone who is accomplished and successful in the workplace or their careers find satisfaction in their resumes. A resume is not only what you submit to a potential employer, it's also what you view to see your accolades, accomplishments and your job track record. Our resume speak for us before we even enter the room. People take great time to make sure their resumes are up to par, the latest design, and has the best headshot. But have you ever taken time to review your spiritual resume? Oh yes, we have one of those too.
Sometimes when someone submits a resume or talk about the upward movement of their careers it can often times border on pride and what they did, who they know and what they can do. It's not often that they give any credit to a former manager, or co-worker or training that helped them get to where they are- they simply dwell on them only.
Think about David when he faced Goliath. David was a young man, most scholars think he was around 15-16 yrs old. They believe this because the scriptures say the Israelite army and his brothers didn't consider David a grown man, and the armor he wore was too big for him when he was going out to face Goliath. Now we also know David recounts in 1 Samuel chapter 17 that he was a shepherd of sheep and he had previously killed both a bear and a lion. David was in a way recounting his resume. But he wasn't going off just his battle with the animals, he knew he only overcame by the power of God and because God was with him. Here he was facing the biggest giant in his life and the 1st thing he recounted was that it was God who responsible for his success and life.
Do we do that? Or do we have a me, myself and I thinking when it comes to what we have overcame in life? Another word for that type of thinking is EGO and PRIDE. The bible has a lot to say about how God views pride and our egos. Proverbs 11: 2 says "When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom". I can imagine if David had went out to fight Goliath on his own ego that he would not only had been humiliated and could have lost his life, the Israelites would also have been greatly defeated.
How many times have we attempted to do something without consulting God in prayer or fasting or seeking counsel, only to fail or not see it thru? Or we have put our hand to a task without acknowledging that if it does work or becomes successful then it would be because God declared it so, and it was not within our own power?
This is when we check our spiritual resumes. Every time God brings us thru or over a hill or mountain, our spiritual resume should grow and become stronger. A stronger testament to the goodness of God not to our own power. Because outside of Christ- you have none.
No power. Psalm 10:4 says, "In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God" When we don't leave room for God but instead let our egos rule us, then the bible says God will resist us, because He resist the proud.
There is no room for Me, myself and I without the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Romans 12:3 tells us to not think of yourself more highly than you ought to. We have what we have because God rains on the just as well as the unjust. And you and I have certainly had some unjust moments where we do not deserve what God blessed us with.
It's time to boast in the Lord. Take a moment to regard your spiritual resume.
Is it filled with arrogance and pride? Or does it point to the Father ? Your spiritual resume can be quite long. Oh... some of us are pastors, ministers, worship leaders, life coaches, prayer intercessors, and the list goes on and on. But if those "accolades and titles" were all done for your glory and for your name to be known among men, then they mean nothing. Only the works that we do with the motive of God in mind will follow us into eternity.
As a Christian, at the Bema Judgement seat of Christ each of us will stand. This judgment is not based on our salvation or not, for we are already saved. But this meeting will be to have our works, our spiritual resumes examined. Paul writes in the new testament, that our works will be tried by fire. Those that were based on pride and our egos will be burned up to stubble and hay, not fit for any good in the kingdom. The works that are tried and go thru the fire unscathed - those that we did for Jesus- will come out like pure gold and fashioned into a crown for us with many jewels. And even then in a moment where we should feel like "Yes I made it"...John the Revelator wrote that we would give our crowns back to Jesus and lay them at His feet. Ultimately realizing that what we did for Him, all the great works or revival, praying, sharing the gospel, etc. was after all the very least we could do for Him!
It was our reasonable service!
We could never repay him or work enough to earn our salvation!
You see there will be no boasting on our part, but Jesus Himself will boast in us, when He says "Well done, my good and faithful servant"!
That's what we want to hear.
It's way better than hearing "You got the job" after submitting a resume!
So let us pay close attention to our ego's. Keep it in check. Walk in the spirit and do not allow your mind and thinking to become lofty or prideful.
Remember it is in Him, that we live , move and have or being .
Stay humble so we are not resisted by the Father and that He is pleased with our works.
Until next time, keep shining!
Kee Isadore
Meditation Scriptures:
Daniel 5:20 - But when his heart became arrogant and hardened with pride, he was deposed from his royal throne and stripped of his glory.
Galatians 6:1-3 -Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves.
Proverbs 16: 18-Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall
Jeremiah 9: 23-24 -Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.
Love this!
My word is humble
This blog at the beginning of March is so powerful and so timely for me and what I have been studying that I'm happy but sad to report I don't think I can read the rest of this month's blogs because I need to hold this one for a minute, celebrate, shout and continue to meditate on this one. Thank you Lord for this timely REFRESHING confirmation! SELAH!
