Peace, where is it ?

Writer: Kee IsadoreKee Isadore

Hello Lightbrights! If you're anything like me --lately you may have been grappling with finding peace and keeping it. We are bombarded by all the things going on in the world, including seeing so much apostacy and heresy, falling away in the body of Christ. It not only disrupts your peace, it also saddens the heart and make you wonder what in the world is happening.

But have we not been warned?

Did Jesus and the bible not tell us that in the latter days perilous times would come and we would see a falling away of people wanting to hear sound doctrine? My peace was definitely waning at times. But then the Holy Spirit reminds me that our peace is never put into man , or things or circumstances.

Our peace should be found and rooted in God.

In John 16:33 Jesus says, "I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” Right above that verse Jesus was explaining some not so happy things that would happen to Him and the disciples, their peace was shaken, but Jesus reassured them that He would be with them and that He overcame and so would they-thru the peace He would leave with them.

When we feel discouraged, angry and frustrated -that is giving up on our peace. We're letting the enemy steal, kill and destroy the very peace that Jesus provides to us thru the Holy Spirit. It's in those times we must remind ourselves what the Word of God says.

Reminding ourselves looks different for each of us. Maybe you read your favorite bible verse, or maybe someone else puts on their favorite worship music, and another person journals their thoughts or reminisce about past instances that God brought them thru.

Peace is actually listed as a fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23. In Ephesians 6:10-18, Paul is giving an image of a soldier readying for battle with his full armor so I find it interesting that peace can be liken to a weapon...I mean because it's peace--which we automatically think of the synonym "peaceful". But it's described in verse 15 to have your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace--- meaning peace gets us ready! Having peace puts us in a mind frame to be ready for whatever trial or issue is thrown our way, not because of our own power, but by the power of the Holy Spirit. We serve the Prince of Peace and we can go to Him anytime and ask Him to deposit more peace into us. Taking time in His Word, meditating , abstaining from sin-these are our weapons of peace.

So the next time your find yourself in high anxiety situations, take a moment to re-center yourself in the peace of God that passes all understanding.

Ask the Holy Spirit to reignite your peace and faith. Don't let the enemy take your peace.

Until next time,

Keep shining bright!

Kee Isadore

Scriptures to meditate on:

Isaiah 26:3 ~ You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

John 14:27 ~ Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

2 Thessalonians 3:16 ~ Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.
