Happy Friday Lightbrights! This week's blog came a little late, life has been life-ing and I needed to take a breathe and refill my cup with some much needed rest. I purchased a new mattress and I didn't know how much my body needed that.
In my resting time, God was dealing with me regarding heart issues especially the notion of waiting on Him and what all that entails when you are waiting on God to move, reveal, remove or bless.
We all can relate to waiting, something most of us have not mastered doing. I'm a people watcher, I often catch myself watching others, because I find people interesting whether I know them or not. It's even more interesting when I watch strangers , I guess it's the unknowing that attracts my attention.
Have you ever sat in a waiting room and observed people ? I've been waiting at a doctor's office with a room full of other patients and customers. I find the way people wait very interesting. Some wait nervously for their name to be called. Maybe they're expecting good or bad news from the doctor. Some are waiting for test results that they have anxiety or stress over. Some are there because they were referred by another doctor and don't know what to expect. And then some are there with nothing wrong, they're just visiting for an annual checkup. If observant, you can see the anxiousness on their faces and in their body language. You can also notice the ones who feel like they have been waiting too long and they are just ready to get it over with. And you certainly can't miss the one that heard someone else's name called before theirs, even though they checked in first! I have witnessed all of these and have even been one or two in my waiting.
I've come to understand that the way you wait is just as important as the waiting. What does that process look like for you when waiting on God? In Isaiah 40:31, the bible says "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
When you wait, are you the Nervous Nelly because you're in a position beyond your control therefore out of your comfort zone? Are you Impatient Patty and you're ready to just get it all over with- you're not really expecting it to be in your favor anyway? Or are you Terrified Tina- you're so afraid during your wait you have forgotten to trust God even though you've seen Him come thru again and again?
Well I can only speak for me, and sometimes I'm Killjoy Kee. I try to keep myself joyful in my waiting but must admit seeing other names called and blessed before me( even though I feel like I have been waiting forever) can sometimes discourage and deflate my joy in the waiting season. Psalm 27:14, says “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!
When we find ourselves in life's various waiting rooms, we must remind ourselves of not only what the bible reveals to us about waiting but also what God has already done.
We all know a lot of times, our names are finally called, only to get into the back office of guess what... another waiting room! But in there is not the time to lose patience or hope, because it's there that you are so close to the doctor walking right in to attend to your problem.
God deals with us sometimes like that. He moves us spiritually or even physically from place to place until His time is perfect to address or fix whatever it is we are needing from Him.
In my people watching I find those who came prepared for the wait to be far better off than those who didn't. Those who brought a crossword puzzle to bid their time. Maybe a magazine or an I-pad tablet to make time go by quicker, or maybe they brought someone along to wait with them. We can take that and also apply it spiritually.
In your waiting continue to pray and read God's word. This is important to feed your hope and your faith. Pray with and speak to a godly friend as your on your journey to also pull hope from them and to pray with them as they're also are in a waiting room of their own life.
As believers , we must be prepared for our waiting seasons, its's apart of life and it's how God develops our characters and keeps us fit for service and ministry.
This week think about your waiting room and what you are waiting for. Don't forget that the One we are waiting on is never far away, He is not a distant doctor or associate. His Spirit is right there with us as we wait, cheering us on and giving us comfort and hope.
Continue to wait on God, serve while you wait, hope while your wait, work while your waiting.
Your waiting is not in vain. You will reap exactly what God promised, do not faint.
Until next time,
Keep shining and waiting!

Meditation scriptures
Lamentations 3:25 - “The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him
Psalm 33:20-22- Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you
Psalm 37: 7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!”
Proverbs 20:22- Do not say, “I will repay evil”; wait for the Lord, and he will deliver you.”
Man it's taken and takes sometimes forever for me to get it but when I get it I get it. Waiting on God should bring us into maturity and more Christlike character as we learn humility and trust. God have your way!
Yes and Amen 🙌🏽
Life is full of processing cycles that we must experience and it's all about how we wait🙏🏾
